The national project, with scientific coordinators Prof. Oreste Buonomo, Prof. Denisa Eskiu, and Prof. Malvina Hoxha, is promoted by UKZKM.
Today, in the Senate Hall of the Catholic University "Our Lady of Good Counsel," the presentation of the national project "The Moment of the Breast – Personalized Risk Assessment and Early Diagnosis of Breast Cancer in Pharmacies" took place, an innovative initiative in the field of public health. The project aims to raise public awareness by contributing to the prevention and early diagnosis of cases through pharmacies participating in the project. Every woman will have the opportunity to complete a scientifically validated questionnaire, receive a personalized and confidential assessment, and, if found at high risk, benefit from a teleconsultation with professionals in the field to determine the necessary check-ups. The pilot phase of this project involves 15 selected pharmacies in Albania, during which trained pharmacists will support the community by providing information and raising awareness about breast health. This model aims to strengthen early diagnosis, empower women, and create a new culture of prevention throughout society. The project is innovative and is carried out in collaboration with the Catholic University "Our Lady of Good Counsel" and the Order of Pharmacists of Albania, with the support of the Institute of Public Health (ISHP). The assessment will be individual, fully respecting privacy, and will be based on key factors such as family history, hormonal and reproductive factors, lifestyle (e.g., diet, physical activity, BMI), and combined predictive factors calculated through clinically validated algorithms.
The objectives of the project are to protect women's health, provide specialized assistance for the early diagnosis of breast cancer, and reduce the impact of the disease at both national and regional levels.
During the meeting, evaluations were shared by the Rector of the Catholic University “Our Lady of Good Counsel,” Prof. Leonardo Palombi; the President of the “Our Lady of Good Counsel” Foundation, Fr. Ruggero Valentini; the Medical Director of the Catholic Hospital “Our Lady of Good Counsel,” Fabian Cenko; renowned doctors, pharmacists, and representatives from the Institute of Public Health.
Now is the moment of the breast!
