The European Centre of Peace Science, Integration and Cooperation is organizing for the first time in Albania the Peace Prize initiative, an event significantly supported by the “Our Lady of Good Counsel” Foundation. The event will take place on 11 March 2026, starting at 10:00 a.m., in the Aula Magna of the Catholic University of Tirana, in collaboration with the Balkan and Caucasus Observatory / Centre for International Cooperation (OBCT/CCI). The Peace Prize is awarded to individuals and organizations that have distinguished themselves through their commitment to peace, with particular attention to the Balkan region. The initiative was officially launched in May 2025 and coordinated by the European Centre of Peace Science, Integration and Cooperation (CESPIC), with the support of FZKM. An international jury composed of recognized experts from Southeast Europe, the Balkans, and Albania selected this year’s Peace Prize recipients:
- Nihad Suljić, for his continuous humanitarian commitment and contribution to social peace;
- The Project “Shared History Books”, for its long-term educational role in promoting mutual understanding and reconciliation.
The award ceremony will take place during the public event on 11 March, in the presence of numerous guests. The ceremonial session will be chaired by Professor Raul Caruso, Director of CESPIC.
On the same date, 11 March at 12:30 p.m., we will announce the name of the Righteous Person of 2026, selected through a democratic vote held at the ZKM Campus in January. On 11 March 2026, the Righteous of the Garden will also be announced, in parallel with the one in Milan.
