Born in 1960 in Stuttgart, Axel Müller-Schölls is an Interior Designer and Architect. He studied at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart, Germany (Robert Haussmann) and at the Università degli Studi in Florence, Italy (Adolfo Natalini). After working as a researcher at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart and as a visiting professor at the Central Academy in Beijing and the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Lyon, he was appointed Full Professor of Interior Architecture at the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle (BURG) in 1994. In 1999, he founded the idea ...Institute (Institute for Interior Design Environment and Architecture) as an affiliated institute of the BURG, where he directed interdisciplinary research, publications and cooperations with companies and public institutions.
Following many years as Dean of the Faculty of Design, he served as Rector of BURG from 2010 to 2014.
Since 1986, he has worked as designer and architect together with Susanne Müller-Schöll in their Stuttgart-based Studio Paretaia, where he plans buildings, interior designs, sets for exhibitions and furniture. He is an active consultant for companies and craft workshops.
Axel Müller-Schöll is an appointed member of the German Werkbund (DWB) and of the Association of German Architects (BDA).
