General information
In order to increase the number of physiotherapy services of second and third level, offered with the quality of international standards, the Non-profit organization Dokita and the Foundation ‘Our Lady of Good Counsel” with the co-financing of Italian Cooperation, in 2005, have created Medical and Sports Rehabilitation Centre “MSRC”. The purpose of the centre is to set up a didactic centre of rehabilitation in Tirana, which will operate across a broad range of fields, including training of physiotherapists, providing rehabilitation services, and the increasing of awareness of specialists on various rehabilitation topics.
The Medical and Sports Rehabilitation Centre got inaugurated on 3 December, 2008 and it soon became part of the advanced services at the University Hospital Complex “Our Lady of Good Counsel”. Now days considered as a symbol of “rehabilitation”, the centre covers 1.100m² and is situated in an old, existing building but reconstructed in a contemporary architectural style. Its entrance leads to the reception desk aimed to help patients to register, book an appointment and/or check-in.
A small hall connects the reception desk with the Reception Area; there patients can find treatments booths, equipped with assistive devices for any kind of rehabilitation therapy. It has got natural light provided by powerful, energy efficient light bulbs, and a system that co-generates ventilation and heating connected to solar panel. Not far from the booth area, there is a large gym equipped with all the necessary tools for various therapeutic exercises, such as: power tower, ascending and descending stairs, etc.
Another area is equipped with quality gymnastic equipments for muscular toning. Air systems are built to provide maximum comfort and the light system is selected and positioned in order to avoid any kind of disturbance. The final product of the workings have reached all the expectations set during the architectural design process. Today, the structure is a pillar of excellence for rehabilitation services. The Centre is one of the objectives of the program of “Rehabilitation and Sports Centre” and provides even services such as: trainings for professionals, increasing awareness on physiotherapy with the collaboration of Italian academic institutions, and so far it has contributed to the formation of physiotherapist students and graduation of professionals and awareness rising on this topic through seminars, conferences, journals and legal norms.
