Anja Planišček graduated from the Faculty of Architecture in Ljubljana in 1997 and pursued postgraduate studies at the Architectural Association School of Architecture (AA) in London (1999-2001). She began working as a teaching assistant at the Faculty of Architecture in Ljubljana in 2003 and has been a lecturer for the courses in Residential Buildings, Design, and Studio Practice 2 since 2013.
Anja Planišček is active in the artistic, pedagogical, and professional spheres. Her work focuses on pressing social issues such as poverty, and the inaccessibility of education and housing, alongside the dissemination of architectural knowledge. She collaborates with student groups and mentors from the Faculty of Architecture on international development and humanitarian projects in some of the world's less developed areas. These teams have built: A classroom, library, and multi-purpose hall in Johannesburg, South Africa (2010-11); Amasiko, a transitional home for street children in Kabale, Uganda (2017); An Education and Career Center in Brufut, The Gambia (2018-19).
Within the artistic field, she works in collaboration with other architects and artists. Her creative practice intertwines diverse fields, merging architecture with contemporary visual and multimedia art practices.
